The First Thing You Buy for A New Home?

posted on: July 3, 2017

We moved into a new apartment a month ago, and to tell you the truth, unpacking was easy this time around. I am slowly finding out that real organizing won't be as easy. We have more space, and on a surface level, it seems there are too many options to put things...

And now I can't really decide on anything. A ridiculous problem to have, right?  I'm hoping to power through organizing this week, and actully get pictures hung in out hallway.

One of the first purchases I tend to make for a new apartment, is a shower curtain and new cleaning products. And in reality, there is a part of me that feels like if I really wanted to distract myself, it may be a good time to look at new table clothes and a linen sheet set.
But do I need them? I'm not sure.

What's the first thing you buy for a new home?

  1. Shower curtain, cleaning supplies and a new plant. :)

  2. We just moved to a very small apartment--just this weekend! We got rid of SO MANY THINGS but I'm excited to buy new art. I love filling the house with things that we've had for years but a new piece of art work feels like a monument to this new chapter and I love that.

    1. Congratulations on your new place! I never buy new art when we first move, I will look into it for sure!

  3. Paint or a wall tapestry if painting is not allowed. It sets the tone for all else!

  4. paint and cleaning supplies!! :) you never know what to expect in a new place, but yes, cleaning supplies is a must for a new place! good luck with your new place and with the unpacking!

  5. Get the linen sheet set, I just found some at Target clearanced out to $25 for a queen set and they are PERFECTION! Holy cow I am only putting linen sheets on my bed from here on out.

  6. Cleaning supplies is a must and all new bathroom decor for every bathroom.

  7. A toothbrush, obviously :D

Just kidding, probably chairs...? Haven't had to move for awhile.
