Leaning On Lipstick

posted on: November 17, 2016

Most mornings I wake before 6:30 a.m., the kids still asleep as the sun peeks through my bedroom shutters. It is the most sun the apartment will get in one whole day, so often, without hesitation, I jump up and open them wide. I awake with the realization that readying everyone will be a fairly easy task. The night before I packed the lunches and laid the clothes, a routine I adapted from my childhood when I would prepare for school.

Contrary to a lifestyle blogger's image, I am not over-indulgent. I don't want you to buy everything I discuss—I hardly shop myself. And the same goes for makeup and skincare products. Over the summer I gave up makeup. In the heat of the New York City sun a made-up face can melt; and my makeup-free face felt cool and freeing. While I've taken the time to integrate make-up back into my routine for fall and winter, our predictable and tight mornings don't leave time for much.

I've been leaning heavily on lipstick. I've always enjoyed a good shade (just check the archives), but now I notice how good it actually makes me feel—more so on those puffy-eyed mornings with two little ones at my feet and a coffee in my hand. I instantly feel pulled together, leaving no trace of the militant-like morning we need just to get out the door before 8 a.m..
This fall and winter, I am particularly attracted to light pinks and varying shades of red.

Do you have any fall makeup tricks of your own?
A few of my favorites : - Glossier - Generation G ( Like) Nars- Audacious (Anita), Sephora- Lady Balls

  2. I wash my face then use alcohol and witch hazel and put bright lipstick on. My new one is from smash box be Legendary collection. With allergies and just not being a make up wearer that's all I do everyday.

  3. I have been dying to try Glossier's Generation G, and now this post is more motivation to do so.

  4. love that lkpstick color you're wearing in the pic. I was wearing dark lipstick during October but missed my bright lipstick. I love bright lipsticks; it makes me happy during colder days. I love matte iconic my milani and matte glam by milani

  5. I have the same issue with makeup in the summer here in South Florida! Lipstick is my go to for the summer time. Actually tinted chopstick. Lipstick tends to dry out and get flaky on me.
