In partnership with Olly Nutrition, delicious vitamins that help keep my kids and our days equally strong, I'm sharing how a typical morning with Oak goes:
+ 6:30 am - Either myself or Peter will wake up and shower to get the day started. Lately, it has been more Peter (unless he's on set), and I get another hour/hour and a half to sleep.
+ 7:30 am- The kids are fed and beginning to get dressed for the day. This is always the slowest process, but also, a lot of fun. River is very into getting ready for school each day.
+ 8:00 am- Peter packs snacks and starts to head out for school drop-off with River and Oak. They leave me home to shower and have some alone time before my day begins.
+ 8:40 am- The boys arrive back home after dropping big sis off. This is when Oak and I start our morning together and give Peter some time to work, or run errands, or we all have a date together.
+ 9:00 am- I'm not really a breakfast person, and while I struggle to even eat a banana every morning, I don't fail on my vitamins. Same with the kids. Oak finds his Olly Vitamins and we stand around and take them all together. I like to line mine up and count along the way.
He counts with me: "One. waa." Two. tooo." Three. ree"
+ 9:15 am- After taking our vitamins , I drink a glass of warm lemon water in a mason jar, and give Oak his own (though he prefers just the lemon). ;)
I like our mornings steady and routined. We all thrive on expectations we can count on. It's the same with taking my vitamins, and having Oak takes his. I have full comfort in knowing my body is doing the work because it's getting what it's lacking from food, and so is his. I’m especially glad for this when I consider the fact that he will be attending a small day-camp a few days a week this summer. It's so crazy to even think about! His brain will be like a sponge, taking in so many new things, and his body will be running and jumping and using different kinds of muscles he has yet to work out. A strong start to the day is key.
There won't be many slow mornings, and even though there is a huge part of me that is sad we are already here, there's also an even bigger part of me excited to see how much Oak has grown. He's eager, attentive, and lives like according to his name, Oak: Strength.
Do you have any morning routines that you stick to with your kids? (I also can not leave the house without making up all the beds!)
