Relaxation, Rest, Repeat

Hi guys! My poor neglected blog has been collecting cobwebs and I sure do miss it.

This week off has been amazing! It was very much needed, and really, truthfully, I sort of battled internally about returning.

I became quiet with my own thoughts, instead of typing them out here. And every now and again, I thought oh how I would love to just go straight to bed at night instead of blogging, and how the camera could stay home more etc. And then I thought, I would probably still stay up super late, and take a million and one photos of my daughter. So continuing to blog obviously won. ;)

I came to the conclusion, that I love this place.. this space.

Peter and I spent more time talking then we have since we had River. Most times we found ourselves talking about River. Others, we reminisced on our days with just us two.

One of the nights, we decided to barbecue on our back porch. Peter seasoned the turkey burgers as I started a little tub/pool for River. Peter and I talked and talked, as I sipped on wine, and as River washed her hair with a solo cup. It wasn't fancy, it was us. Just the two that complete me. It was perfect.

So happy to be back!

  1. I've often had debates myself about stopping my blog but I feel like it's become more of an outlet for me than anything and I'm really enjoying keeping a diary of sorts. Lugging around my camera can often be a pain but thats why I love the iphone! Takes such great pictures and isn't heavy at all :)

looks like you guys had a great time! and I'm also really happy you decided to continue blogging because I love your blog and hearing about your family!

  2. Sounds like a wonderful week off! I sometimes have thoughts about stopping the blog too--it's hard to keep up with everything and having a camera all the time can be a pain--but, honestly, the thought of stopping the blog also makes me sad!

A week off, though, sounds wonderful.

  4. I love your blog, and am glad you're back too!

I often struggle with the to-blog or not-to-blog dilemma. I think when I take some time to look back on the years I have documented, not for the internet, but for me, for my family... then it becomes clear. And that's why I keep doing it!

Breaks are good, and your readers will always be here!

  5. I hope last week was a time of healing for you, too. Loss will never go away, but time with your family does. I've been keeping my blog since mine were itties and I love being able to go back and see everyone through their changes. (I also stink at journals and loathe scrapbooking, so this is the one thing I have actually been able to keep up with!) Best wishes to your family. I'm not a huge blog commenter, mostly because I would never remember to go back and see if I got a reply and I don't want to be really rude like that, but I do find you and your family to be very sweet and charming.
