Underestimating type of gal + a Halloween party

posted on: October 30, 2012

Here are few photos of the Halloween get-together we had at our place on Friday. It was small, but extremely fun. We invited close friends and family via Evite (including my new friend Belle from Petite Biet and her beautiful family). River had so much fun doing her "drunken baby" dance till the wee hours of the morning, and really enjoyed having her new friend Biet around to toss some balloons with. One of the things that Peter and I try to continually prove as young parents is the fact that we can still have fun and be responsible parents. According to our friends we proved our point.

Thank You.

Where's River?

Underestimating Sandy:
Okay, I'll admit, I underestimated Sandy's power. I guess it's the New Yorker in me, but I sure did think we all would be spared. Despite praying hard, and talking as little of Sandy's power as I could possibly do, she's got me talking more and praying even harder. Friend's apartments are flooded, and some things are ruined. Fortunately material things are just that...material, but goodness if it was my apartment, my babe's books, my home that I've worked so hard on, I would be distraught. So it goes without saying, that my heart goes out to them. This tragic event has brought on a sense of community like nothing I've ever seen. Families have offered up their homes to other families who are without lights and with flooding. Most, without even knowing them. Companies are renting out cleaning supplies for little to no fee, and many parents are still throwing get-togethers for community kids tomorrow so they don't feel like Halloween has been ruined. It's wonderful to watch. We've tried our best to stay active outdoors when the storm wasn't bad, and have done many puzzles and read lots of books. Oh, and I've gained about 10 pounds...I'm sure. Lots and lots of stew and cake. ha But, we are here, we are safe, and we are beyond grateful. We are praying for a quick relief and hopefully our city and the whole East Coast will be back up and running soon.

Love,
LaTonya
